Grease Filter Cleaning & Replacement
Filters are the part that actually catches grease. Mesh can often be washed. Baffle filters need a proper degrease. Charcoal filters in recirculating hoods get changed when they are spent. Book a filter visit when the mesh is clogged, a baffle is heavy, or the charcoal no longer holds smell.
Which fittings this covers
Included
- Filters removed and identified
- Mesh and baffle degreased when they are still sound
- A clear note if a filter should be replaced
- Sound filters refitted
Not this visit
- We do not repair or replace the fan motor, wiring, or switches.
- We do not fit a new hood or alter the duct route.
- A whole-kitchen or oven clean is a different visit.
- We do not issue a compliance certificate for a commercial extract system.
Signs it is time
- Mesh you cannot see through
- Baffle filters that drip
- Smell returning within days on a recirculating hood
What changes the quote
Washing filters costs less than supplying new ones. The quote splits labour from any replacement filters, which depend on size and type. We do not guess a filter price until we know the hood.
DIY and after the visit
A hot wash with washing-up liquid is reasonable for light mesh. A dishwasher can bend it. Charcoal does not wash clean. Baffles from a busy hob rarely come right in a domestic sink.
You can cook again once the metal is dry and the filters are back in. A light film of new grease is normal after the next fry-up. Book again when filters look loaded or the fan smells of old oil as soon as it starts.
