Extractor Fan Deep Cleaning

This visit is about the fan, not only the shiny canopy. Grease in the fan opening is why a hood smells the moment it starts and why suction fades after you have already washed the mesh. Book it when clean filters have not brought the airflow back.

Which fittings this covers

Domestic centrifugal fans
Accessible fan inlets
Hoods where the filter comes off fully
Fans that smell before the canopy looks dirty

Included

  • Filters off
  • Reachable fan inlet and scroll opening degreased
  • Housing wiped
  • A check that the fan spins freely by hand where it is safe to do so

Not this visit

  • We do not repair or replace the fan motor, wiring, or switches.
  • We do not fit a new hood or alter the duct route.
  • A whole-kitchen or oven clean is a different visit.
  • We do not issue a compliance certificate for a commercial extract system.

Signs it is time

  • Old-oil smell as soon as the fan starts
  • Airflow still weak with clean filters
  • A fan that sounds laboured

What changes the quote

Deep fan cleaning is quoted higher than a filter wash because of the time in the housing. If the motor is seized or dead, we stop and say so. That is a repair, not a clean.

DIY and after the visit

Spraying degreaser into a spinning fan throws grease into the kitchen. The fan must be off and the filters out.

You can cook again once the metal is dry and the filters are back in. A light film of new grease is normal after the next fry-up. Book again when filters look loaded or the fan smells of old oil as soon as it starts.

Questions

Questions about Extractor Fan Deep Cleaning

No. We clean the inlet and housing we can reach. We do not rewire or replace the motor.

A rattle is often a filter not seated. If the noise is the motor itself, that is an engineer’s job and we will tell you.

No. This is the fan in the hood. Pipework beyond the hood is the extract-duct visit.

Often it is grease in the inlet, not a dead motor. If the blades will not turn at all with the power off, we stop and tell you it is a repair.
